Dear Potential Surrogate,
My name is M and my husband’s name is M. We live in Florida and have been together since we were 15 years old—I was 14! It is crazy to think we met our person as kids! We were finally able to get married in March 2021 (COVID bride).
We grew up in a big city with large families all living within a short 10-minute drive. We are both 1 of 4 children. We also have several nieces and nephews that we hope will be able to play with our children one day. M is easy going and always goes with the flow. My personality is calm and adaptable in various situations; however, IVF has created an over thinker out of me—haha! If you are wondering who the funny one is, I would say it is me but M may not agree.
I am a pediatric speech-language pathologist. Seeing my patients grow, flourish, and achieve milestones is easily the best part of my day. Needless to say, I absolutely love what I do and feel such strong connections to my patients and their families—it takes a village! M is self-employed with a strong interest in technology. He built his first computer when we were 15 years old. He started working in the technology industry at 18 years old. He continues to educate himself in all things technology and software to better his craft. He also works incredibly hard to make life so beautiful for us and our fur babies, Milo and Maui.
We enjoy traveling all over the world, trying new foods, and having lazy days on the couch with our little Milo bear and Maui. Together we watch comedy shows (e.g., Schitt’s Creek, The Office, Ted Lasso, Big Bang Theory, Modern Family); although, I know Michael would love to watch horror films instead. I am afraid we both would never sleep again if I agreed. Our favorite foods at the moment are Italian, Mediterranean, and Japanese; however, we live relatively active lifestyles to balance our love for food. I enjoy playing tennis, doing Pilates, and going to the gym. M loves playing all sports (e.g., football, basketball, golf, soccer). He also loves snowboarding when we travel to colder places.
In early 2022, we decided to start trying to grow our family. By November 2022, I decided to finally listen to my gut and see a specialist. This is when our IVF journey began until present day. We have endured numerous IVF rounds and two failed transfers. Our last transfer was September 2024 resulting in a chemical pregnancy. That was probably the most heartbreaking event out of all we have been through thus far. Shortly thereafter, our doctor decided it was time to explore surrogacy which was a difficult decision to come to terms with. Ultimately, we decided we want to try to be parents more than carry a pregnancy.
We have been asked many times, “Why surrogacy?” Beyond medical reasons, my husband has the most beautiful heart and I would love nothing more than to see a little him in this world. We hope to be able to develop a friendship with the beautiful surrogate that embarks on this journey with us. We would want to be present at the birth of our baby as well as attend doctor appointments when possible. Our goal is for our surrogate to feel comfortable and supporte through such an experience.
We wanted to take a moment to say thank you for being such a special person in helping a family grow, ours or another. As a couple who have dealt with infertility struggles for a few years, I do not know where we would be if it were not for women like you.
With love,
M and M
